Live from Tottenham: Baltimore Ravens Vs. Tennessee Titans

The third and final NFL London Game of 2023 ended in a 24-16 victory for the Baltimore Ravens over the Tennessee Titans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Lamar Jackson starred for the Ravens – making use of his dual-threat capabilities, throwing for 223 yards and rushing for 62. On the other hand, Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill was off-form in the passing game, completing just eight of his 16 attempts for 76 yards with one interception.

Both sides struggled to convert on 3rd down in the first quarter as three total field goals were made.

Baltimore eventually scored the first touchdown of the game, as Jackson found Zay Flowers for a 10-yard score to give the wide receiver his first career NFL touchdown, making it 18-3 at halftime.

Tennessee laboured on offense with Derrick Henry proving to be the only source of yards for the home team in London. The star running back showed why he’s one of the NFL’s very best – with a remarkable 63-yard run. But yet again, the Titans were unable to turn that into six points and instead had to settle for a field goal.

Momentum looked to be swinging in favour of Tennessee, however, as Jackson threw his only interception of the game to Sean Murphy-Bunting – giving themselves great field position. The resulting phase of play ended in a Titans touchdown as Henry bullied his way into the endzone on a 15-yard rush.

The Titans then forced Baltimore to punt on their next drive but could not capitalise, as Tannehill threw an interception on a pass intended for tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo. Ravens Safety Geno Stone came away with the ball and returned it 24 yards.

The fourth quarter saw Justin Tucker kick his fourth field goal of the day for Baltimore to give his side a healthy 11-point lead.

However, Tannehill suffered an ankle injury which he was unable to return from – forcing Tennessee to turn to their backup quarterback Malik Willis. Willis gave his team late hope with a drive that saw him throw a 48-yard pass to Tyjae Spears, however, they were once again unable to capitalise and therefore settled for yet another field goal with time running out.

The three points meant the Titans had to try an onside kick in an attempt to salvage something from the game, but this was unsuccessful and the Ravens subsequently ran down the clock to end the game.

Speaking after the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh reflected on on the impressive atmosphere and the level of NFL knowledge the British fans in attendance had.

“The fans are great. I love the singing. It was a loud stadium. It was like a home game, like an NFL game as far as the fans. I thought they were very knowledgeable. They know the game over here. That was impressive to see.”

Jackson was equally impressed with the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and told Decyfr how Ravens fans made it feel like a home game for them.

“It was phenomenal. The atmosphere was crazy. I think I heard a lot of Ravens fans in the crowd, even though it was a Tennessee home game. I believe our fans went crazy.”

With the London Games now over for 2023, the NFL now turns its attention to Germany as the Miami Dolphins face the Kansas City Chiefs on November 5, followed by the Indianapolis Colts taking on New England Patriots on November 12 in Frankfurt.
